Waiting Game.June 19, 2008Her husband was physically abusive, joined a cult, abandoned the family, and evaded the Beit Din. Even after tracking him down with a private investigator, and leading him away in handcuffs, the judges decided to surrender to blackmail and free him. One of the judges was fed up with the case and screamed at the woman. And they refused to impose the penalties on the husband that are authorized by law. And the Beit Din? Tip of the Iceberg. May 21, 2008The Rabbinical Courts have little respect for what the Ombudsman says because the rabbinic judges sit on their high thrones. There’s little respect for the secular, and there won’t ever be, because the secular are the root of all the evil. There’s little respect for converts, and there won’t ever be, because the rabbis need to insure the purity of the Jewish seed. There’s little respect for women, because that’s just the way it is. Rochella is a haredi woman who has been married for 4 and a half years and has a child. She’s been an agunah for almost 2 of those years. Her husband disappeared to Borough Park, or thereabouts, when Rochella refused the apartment to him. She’s stayed in Israel waiting for a get and searching for any information that will help track down her husband. Read More
