Rhode attempts to define the objectives and methodologies that are common to “feminist critical theories” that aim to change the current distributions of power between men and women. According to Rhode, feminist critical theories: ask the women’s question, promote gender equality, ground themselves in practical problems and practical reasoning (the experience of oppression), are skeptical towards everything including skepticism, draw on “rights” theories when necessary, and construct alternative visions of the good society.
